This was my 4th Python book I have used in trying to teach myself Python (the 3rd I abandoned since it was so sparse on details). However, this book is very effective in teaching the language. One of the best innovations is the extensive Glosssary. The other night I spent quite some time bouncing around the Glossary, reading definitions and marking examples. One can read about a topic, run into another topic that you don't understand while reading about the first one, and immediately turn to that 2nd topic on another page, all the while referencing the thing you just left to see how it fits in to the overall picture. It finally made things click much better. The Glossary terms are marked with superscript numbers, making them easy to find. Before, I had to look at something I didn't recognize, stare at it, stare at the code and make a guess about how it works and why it was there. After doing research and doing some code it might make sense, but only in an ephemeral way. Now with the... More > Glossary I can keep reviewing the particular issue in context with an example.< Less

A convenient, read-anywhere book packed full of everything you need to get you up and running and coding Python in a very short time. The book successfully combines a teach-yourself primer with an excellent source of reference. Thoroughly recommended!
