Bunnie Prince Charlie is a short narrative about a grandfather telling a story to his grandson. It’s a humorous explanation of why we have chocolate eggs and rabbits at Easter, based loosely on the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie. The grandson is probably too old now for this but wants to return, one last time, to the safe old-fashioned world of cocoa and bed-time stories. His grandfather is complicitous - childhood seems to last such a very short time - and besides he enjoys the opportunity to spin a yarn. He’s a good story-teller, involving his grandson in the tale as it unfolds and weaving elements of their shared surroundings into the narrative. It’s for children aged between 8 and 11 (and for any parents who haven’t altogether grown up.....)
