In Veritas, Jon Milton creates a terrifying world where truth is pitted against truth, good versus good, right is in conflict with right. LeBear, the story's protagonist, finds himself on a journey to discover TRUTH - only to discover that it is as illusive as the Roman goddess who is the namesake of his home (and the title of this book). Milton's writing style allows us to easily see ourselves in LeBear's place. Although the story is set centuries in the future it is not futuristic, keeping the setting familiar and believable - and yet from page one, we realize that this new world is not quite right. We quickly share in LeBear's dilemma, quest and frustration. This eerie world and its unique characters set a great foundation for other possibilities (both sequels and prequels). I encourage this young author to continue to develop what he has begun in this wonderfully entertaining and thought provoking new novel. Well done, Jon. dle
