The Island of Samsø

This text investigates the Danish island of Samsø, at the time the largest carbon neutral settlement on the planet. The study investigates and questions whether the island’s techniques (in terms of renewable energy production) could be applied to the UK, both as a whole and in part. Samsø was visited by the author in March 2009 and this thesis is therefore heavily based upon first hand experience, including interviews with members of the community, whilst on the island.
