How might we react if the spirit of a coal miner killed in a tragic labor incident in 1922 were to confront us? In fact, Joe Bailey is confronted by such a spirit. And, what if you or I were that miner, unable to find peace after all this time? Then, both cosmic and human forces, in fine alignment with Joe as their trip-wire, could be our only hope for closure and for peace. Nick Shebellko was cut down in the prime of his life during the vividly described battle at the Cliftonville mine. But eight decades later Joe, an outdoorsman and real estate agent, meets and befriends Nick’s spirit. He and teacher friend Jessie Randall fight to bring peace to Nick’s spirit, and to eight other deceased miners, while restoring their own tattered reputations. In the process they not only learn about, but experience 1920’s coal mining camp life, its heartaches and its customs. Set in the locale of the world-famous Meadowcroft archaeological dig, this story is both timely and... More > timeless.< Less
Hi, all. It's the author. I just wanted to point out the reason most of the 14 Reviews are dated with the same date. These legitimate Reviews were brought in from various sources, via WeRead, on that date, even though the rating stars were lost along the way. Thanks for considering my historical novel! Joe
"Interesting Blend" Thanks for the review on my books Joseph, most grateful. so glad you left a review on Carla and Jake, and you have tried out my Subliminal Hair Re-growth E-book. Thanks! Any chance making your book into a movie? I could see it on the big screen. Can't wait-brilliant book
"Holes in the Hills, by Joseph Bogo" This is a most unusual story, well told and with characters you would be glad to have as friends. You learn to care for them all and what happens to them, both the "new" ones and the "old." The author is obviously very familiar with the area and has done a tremendous amount of research into its history. He played fair in his account of the controversy between mine owners and union organizers, not making either side out to be villains. His short chapters make you think you have come to a good place to stop, but you are forced to keep reading because he skillfully leads you on--a real page turner.
"Loves ghost story..." Five STARS!!! Damn, a ghost story within a ghost story---LOVED IT!!! (Sometimes even the living are haunted) You did a fine job in the story telling. Keep up the good work. wendy turner
