This special edition of Jules Verne's classic novel corrects more than 3000 errors in the original 1872 English translation and replaces the 23% of the text that had been expurgated by the original translator for political, ideological and other reasons. In addition, there are nearly two dozen illustrations created especially for this edition by Ron Miller, cutaway views and schematics of the Nautilus, maps, details of Verne's diving suits and many other special features.

"20,000 Leagues under the Sea" This book is an edited edition of the first English translation by Rev. Lewis Page Mercier in 1872. Ron Miller has painstakingly corrected and restored the 20% of the book which was removed for the first English edition and corrected tha many errors in translation. As a result one has here an example of what a good Victorian translation would have been, if only Mercier had taken more time in the translation and had not been coerced by pecuniary necessity to abide by the publisher's desire for a severely abridged version. This book was originally published by Unicorn Press in 1988 and has long been out of print.
