Based of what I've seen, and where I've seen it, you should probably pay twice as much for this book, however, at the same time, you should probably factor in the price of the book itself, at which point, you might not have too much more than $40 if you can find it used.

"Review" Anyway, I read the book and am a cosplayer. Near as I can tell, the book covers these four things: 1) basic sewing technique, 2) fairly obvious (but still useful to have in one place as opposed to spread out like in Cosplay.com) advice, 3) directions on how to make several simple costumes (I wish there were pictures of more of the costumes described, but the directions are pretty straightforward), and 4) really useful tips on cosplay that the author has obviously tried (or her friends have) and gotten to work for her. The first bit, basic sewing, you could find better in a library book about sewing. So that's not really all that useful. The second, all the obvious tips, aren't really necessary, but it's probably worth $10 just to have it all in one place. The basic costumes are kind of nice, even though I didn't want to try any of them, just because they give ideas on how to make similar costumes. The fourth section, though, all the "how I tried to do this,... More > didn't do it right several times, and then got it to work" is extraordinary, though. It's like the author's done all of the work for us, so we don't have to. The tone of the book is also really nice. It's written in a really conversational, "big sister" kind of tone. The author isn't talking down to beginners (like most cosplayers do), but is instead really encouraging. There's this nice "you can do it" feel. All in all, definately worth the price, although it could be improved.< Less
