Eight-year-old Jillian Miller has just moved with her family to a new house in a new town. Jillian doesn’t really like change that much, but she likes her new room, and she knows she’s going to have to make it work. As she settles in and meets the new neighbors—including their dog—she hopes that one day she’ll have a dog of her own. Then, one morning on a local TV show, Jillian sees a dog available for adoption and just knows that this is the right dog for her. She and her family go to meet the dog and then adopt her, calling her Sashi—and that’s when their lives begin to change. The Millers have their work cut out for them in helping Sashi adjust to a new life, but they know it will be worth it. After all, Sashi is a very special dog! Based on a true story, this book for young readers shows that things don’t always turn out as planned and that love knows no boundaries in either human or animal world.

Aug 18, 2016"SUCH a precious book! SO many wonderful thought=provoking issues for students to think about: puppy mills, care/responsibility of a pet, and the wonderful training that can be done to share pets with others-at schools, nursing homes, etc. I LOVE IT!!" Quote by Ruth Turner
Jul 12, 2015This book speaks to the love that Juliana has for Sashi and as an owner of a rescued dog myself, I can truly understand the background for this story. I especially like the references to words that would not be familiar to younger children, so they can better understand the concept of the story. The book should be required reading in Elementary schools as it shows how love for other people and animals can enhance lasting friendships. Also it teaches responsibility and the true meaning of taking care of someone you love. Congratulations to Juliana and Sashi for this wonderful story and for showing us all the joy of adoption for animals that also can be related to people. Should be read by everyone, young and old and I am sure it will brighten you day and your life, much the same way Juliana and Sashi brighten my day and my life, and of course Freckles life as well.
Jul 8, 2015This warm and engaging book is a reminder to us all of the power of love as an action word. Not only is it an excellent educational tool for children - teacher reads for elementary school children or independent reading for , I am guessing, 4th graders; it is also very informative of the needs of rescued dogs and methods of assisting in their adaptive success to their forever home. I met Juliana and Sachi, as I walk regularly in their neighborhood, and can speak to the magic of every encounter -a true testimony to the strength of their shared love - very inspiring and glowing. I think this book should be read by people of all ages who need a true lift.
Jun 17, 2015Being in the same boat “Who Rescued Who” during my 44-year marriage, I decided to read this children’s book for fun. My wife and I also have had several animal shelter kittens which brought us more love than we could ever imagine. This book is well written and I especially like the way Juliana Morgan, the author, gave some words special attention like how to pronounce the word and what the word meant. Very smart. This story will bring back memories (we have all lost one of our furry family members) for many people who read it to their children. I’m not sure what age a child could start reading this book, but I think around 8 years old. They will get to know the characters in the book, especially Jillian and Sashi and Oliver and Scout who develop a fantastic friendship, one that you hope can lead kids who read this book to know what friends should mean to each other. The parents of these kids are also role-model type parents. Nice story, well written, and very sweet. Go Sashi!
