When a girl from the Bronx is uprooted to small town Indiana, she capitalizes on the small-pond opportunities and leads you on a behind the scenes roller coaster ride of her charmed life in some of the world's most coveted stages, from the dugout with baseball legend Albert Pujols to hanging out on the infamous Honeysuckle Rose, Willie Nelson's famed tour bus, and so many more epic experiences. "Julie's book walks us through old Ebbets Field and her love of the Brooklyn Dodgers, especially Duke Snider, Jackie Robinson, and Gil Hodges, through legendary entertainment artists and several stops in between, with knowledge, heart, and passion." -Don Mattingly, manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers "Julie has such a unique way of capturing life and allowing her readers to see and feel exactly what she portrays. I have always loved to read her writings and been moved by her stories." -Tom Arnold, actor

Mar 4, 2014Many times we read a book, finish it and the next day forget it. However, Julie's Rosenblum-Engelhardt style of writing is truly unforgettable. She is a real person, writing from her heart and soul about real people and famous people she has met and interviewed. Her style is unique in it's honesty and forthrightness that is full of love and concern for all she meets. What intrigues me most, is the mystical and wonderful way she views the world around her. Julie's writing is full of awe which we all get to share. How lucky are we!!!!
Feb 14, 2014When I opened this book for the first time on a rainy London night, I suddenly found myself transported to a different land... It's always been a great pleasure to read Julie's stories and articles. Whether writing about people, entertainment, sports or politics, she has a unique gift of inviting the reader into her personal, often very intimate world of feelings, emotions and sentiments that makes seeing life through her eyes a truly magical, 'hands-on' experience. In her tales of love and joy, sadness and grief, her romantic, spiritual, artistic and fun hippie soul reminisces about her childhood, while reflecting on the subjects of all the things that life is about. Julie Rosenbaum-Engelhardt’s encounters with famous people, which she describes with great flair and accuracy, are an unquestionable highlight of this book, however, what touches me most is her interest in everyday heroes who do not always get the accolades. It is her love for people just as they are, with their... More > innocence and inner beauty, as well as her appreciation of nature, animals and simple things, and a real sense of community with random acts of kindness, closer ties and less speed, that make me repeat after her, "we are all more alike than different" 'cause love really is all we need. As she makes her observations, Julie stops, pays attention, and listens, noticing the little things that make living interesting, exciting, and worthwhile. I've learnt a lot from her, and as I hear her sharing her "favorite and dearest memories", I close my eyes, and all of a sudden my heart yearns for those Indiana Summer nights, for the Ohio River sunsets, and for making grilled cheese and cutting the bread into 'little houses' while singing 'Let the Sun Shine In'... What makes Julie's writing memorable and one of a kind, is the enormous amount of love pouring out from the author's heart, and I hope there will be a sequel to "Journey of a Lifetime". Not without a reason, I'm thinking these thoughts on Valentine's Day. Thanks to this special lady I fell in love with America. Thank you, Julie. "All the exquisite furniture and all the fancy china does not make a home - it’s about love and feeling welcome (...)You just feel safe and warm and wanted." If there is 'chicken soup for the soul', "Journey of a Lifetime" is the chicken soup for the heart - it couldn't have been any other when cooked in America's Heartland.< Less
