A Photographic collection of Cuban Children’s Art In March 1998, I was watching a group of children playing ‘hopscotch’ in the street outside my house in Havana. They were drawing the lines and squares with old bits of tire rubber and broken stone and it occurred to me that it would be interesting to see what they would produce given bright, colored pens and paper. I gave those children some cartridge paper and brightly colored felt tipped pens and was amazed at the quality and freshness of the pictures they produced. They also wrote little stories next to the drawings. This spontaneous act of creativity gave me the idea of compiling a book of Art produced by the children of Havana. This book is a tribute to the children of Havana. The original poems are written in Spanish by elementary aged school children. The poems then were translated by the Author into French and English making this book unique as a children’s book.
