Taking Miss Fanshawe Seriously

ByJulius Falconer

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Tom Westwood and Ethan Birkenshaw are vicars in parishes in rural Yorkshire. Already struggling with doubts about their work, they are thrown into turmoil by the chance find of a recent deconstructionist pamphlet by a university lecturer called Dr Len Croft, who argues that modern Christianity is a mistake: it has developed, historically, in ways which fail to do Jesus’ work justice, and in fact in some areas impede it. When Ethan is offered the chance of promotion, he has no idea whether to resign his living altogether - because he belongs to a ‘mistake’ – or, on the contrary, to pursue promotion in the hope of making a difference from a superior platform. Tom and Ethan then discover that their wives are running a pornographic website!
