Just finished it this morning. All I kept thinking was, can't wait for the next 20 years of stories. But dammit, I don't really want to wait that long to hear about your adventures! You've done some pretty cool stuff in your life surrounding Green Day. But Read Day is the best by far! I would recommend this book to any Green Day fan. Not just for the show highlights but also for the inspiration they brought to your life and to show what can be accomplished with a life filled with Green Day music.

I've read Niki Lee's "Seize the Green Day" and this book is very similar. It's a book by a Green Day fan for Green Day fans. Unlike Niki's book (and I love her book btw!) this book is less choppy in the writing and each chapter has a beginning, middle, and end. Each chapter flows nicely into the next chapter and makes you want to read on. For a 200+ page book, I read it in one day just because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. I hope Justin gets to give Billie Joe his book someday! Good luck Justin!!!

What would happen if Greg Heffley from "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and Holden Caulfield from "Catcher in the Rye" were Green Day fans? They would write this book. Lest anyone think this is a "Green Day" book--any Green Day fan knows the history of the band, so why rehash it all over again? Instead, this is a book that shows how much the band has been an integral part of the author's life. There are pictures throughout the book that add to the story and a humorous drawing sequence that is reminiscent of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". I gave this book 4 stars because I would have liked to have seen more pictures of the band, but again, this is not a Green Day book per se. I enjoyed the author's message of the book and the last chapter does a nice job of putting all his stories together.

I heard about this book through the Green Day Community website... For a first time author, this is actually a very well written book. Justin documents the experiences he's had trying to get to Green Day shows and trying to get tokens of his appreciation to the band. It also gives a little bit of history about some of Green Day's early shows at Woodstock (it actually doesn't sound as much fun as it looks on TV) and how much more intense the Dookie/Insomniac shows were. You can feel his frustration at certain situations he has had to go through. He has a subtle and dry sense of humor that adds to the story and you find yourself rooting for Justin to meet his rock idols. Justin also talks about how Green Day has affected his personal life all the way from his marriage to his day job as a school teacher. I recommend this book to any Green Day fan and even non-Green Day fan.
