In this modern day variation of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice," Elyssa Barnett is an aspiring interior designer who clashes with William Denton, president of Pemberleo Coffee, at her sister Janet's wedding to Chad. Two years later, Elyssa and Will meet under tragic circumstances that she wholly blames him for and doesn't think she can ever forgive him. As she is unwittingly thrown into his presence, she discovers, much to her dismay, that he may have a heart afterall. "Kara Louise is a terrific story teller!" This was a terrific story. I loved the modern day parallels of Pride and Prejudice's Darcy and Elizabeth. But you need not have read Jane Austen's original to get this story. Kara Louise is a great story teller and pulls you in at page one. Quick page turner that I didn't want to put down.
"Modern P&P" This is a wonderful modern Pride and Prejudice story! Set in lovely locations and faithful to Jane Austen's story. If you aren't a Jane Austen fan, you will still love this story. Full of wonderful locations and modern sense, you can't help but fall for this story.
"Modern tale wins my heart!" I am usually a little wary of modern versions of Pride and Prejudice, and I must admit when I first started reading this book, I wasn't sure whether I was going to like it. But I was soon sucked in! Don't come to this book expecting an exact modern retelling. No! There is something that happens in the very beginning of the story that makes it very clear it is not the same. But you will see the characters and certain storylines emerge from the original novel that will have give you that same sense of delight and satisfaction that Jane Austen's novel gives you. I heartily recommend it!
"Drive and Determination" Being a die-hard Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen fan, I try to find anything and everything to read about this eternal and wonderful love story and I can fully recommend this book. Modern day versions are not usually my favorites as I also love the era this story is set in but I found that Kara Louise's ability to transform these characters into a modern day setting, replaced any objection I normally have. This was most enjoyable.
