DTL OTMaster (OTM) is a stand-alone application for reviewing and editing tables and glyphs of fonts with a SFNT-file structure, i.e., CFF-based and TTF-based OpenType fonts, TrueType fonts and TTC (TrueType Collection) fonts.
OTM’s unique strength is that it allows editing of tables in a graphical user interface. Moreover, it comes with advanced additional tools like a Glyph Editor to proof, edit and even draw glyph outlines, a ‘kern’ Table Viewer to proof and refine the kern table, and a ‘GSUB’/‘GPOS’ Viewer to visually test (and in case of GPOS adjust) these OpenType layout tables. On top of that, OTM contains a new ‘Text Viewer’, which includes Harfbuzz for the interpretation of OpenType Layout features.
Because OTM enables one to edit binary font tables –which can be compared to open-heart surgery– one needs some thorough knowledge of the OpenType and TrueType specifications and recommendations. Therefore this manual by expert Karsten Lücke provides a wealth of additional information.
