"Cubs' Owns and How to Do Them." When I was doing my Cub Scout Leadership training, the four aspects of a child's development that we needed to focus on were the physical, the mental, the social and the spiritual. I was fine with the first three aspects of Scouting, and knew that I could organise a fun children's programme of games and activities related to these areas, but when it came to the spiritual side of Scouting, I didn't have a clue what to do. This book provides the solution to running interesting and fun activities connected with the spiritual side of a child's development. Through games, stories, prayers, wise sayings and discussions, children's ideas on the meaning of life, the beauty of nature, the reason for our existence, and the nature of God and the universe are examined at a child's level. The book does not centre on any particular religion, but takes a universal, world view of morals and good behaviour that bind all societies together for the common good.... More > I recommend this book not only to Cub and Scout Leaders, but also to Sunday School and scripture teachers, parents, and after-school and holiday care centres. In an age of falling moral standards, violent films and computer games, and a focus on "Me" rather than "Us", this book is a breath of fresh air.< Less
