This reference book contains over 300 games, and is designed to help parents and other adults who supervise and entertain small groups of children (1 to 6 players). The book is divided into three sections: physical and mental, life skills, and educational. The physical and mental games are for fun and fitness, birthday parties, family get-togethers, and rainy days indoors. The life skill games teach map and compass reading, first aid, outdoor cooking, home safety, campcraft, knotting and other handy things to know. These activities are designed to encourage independence, resourcefulness and self-confidence. The educational games include fun activities in maths, English, science, history, geography, foreign languages, art and music, and are ideal for home-schooling families. Parents and children will find this section instructive, stimulating and very unusual. The games are suitable for 7 to 17 year olds, and some of the activities will stretch the minds of even the cleverest teenagers.

This games book is full of every game imaginable, specifically designed for families and small groups of 1 to 6 players. There are traditional favourites, fast, quiet, water, night, nature, and theme games. You will also find games to encourage new hobbies and interests, plus a huge range of fun, academic games in all school subjects, aimed at a wide range of age groups. For families, home-schoolers and small childcare or youth groups, this games book has something for everyone.
This book is so much fun, not only for children, but for parents too. It starts off with traditional games just for fun, and for me, brought back memories of games I'd played as a child and had long forgotten. There are fast, outdoor games, quieter indoor games for rainy days, games to play in the woods and at night time. The second section of the book is very unusual, containing games that practise life skills such as map and compass reading, first aid, home safety, cooking and all sorts of other important things that a child should learn. The final part of the book is brilliant! I've never seen games like them. Although the games are academic (maths, English, science, foreign languages, history, geography, art and music), they are such fun that all children are bound to enjoy them. I'd recommend these games to all families, and for home-schoolong families, the final section of the book is a must!
