This is the British edition of 'Grammar and Vocabulary Games for Children'. It is a resource book for teachers and home-schooling parents who want to make their children’s grammar and vocabulary lessons fun. Grammar, punctuation, phonics, vocabulary and proverbs are all presented in the form of fifty active games. At the end of a formal lesson, these activities can be given as a reward for hard work, or to reinforce the topic just studied. For restless children who need to stretch their legs and let off steam before they knuckle down to further work, the games presented in this book provide the perfect solution. Several of the vocabulary games are designed to help ESL students to practise their new words, and all the games encourage children to listen, concentrate and stay focused on the topic of study. The activities are aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 13 years. Grammar lessons and vocabulary building will never be boring when children are offered the games in this... More > book.< Less

This fun book is a big seller in British and Australian schools, where teachers use the games to teach and revise English grammar, vocabulary and punctuation to a wide range of students, including primary school children, ESL students and secondary pupils who are less academically inclined. The games are very active so a playground or school hall is recommended for their use. For restless students who need to let off steam, and for pupils who are losing concentration after hours of work, these games can act as a reward towards the end of the school day, while still demanding attention and the consolidation of prior learning. The book would also be of interest to parents and home-schoolers who enjoy active learning.

For teachers who like an active, hands-on approach to teaching and learning, this is the perfect example of a book that can teach and consolidate grammar and vocabulary in a fun, active way so that children can really enjoy their English lessons. Most of the games need plenty of space (hall or playground) and are guaranteed to wear out the active boys in the classroom, so they can quieten down and concentrate on lessons to follow! The girls are equally keen on these games, and as a teacher, I have found that if I offer these games as a reward towards the end of the lesson, the children are more cooperative and work harder in the first part of the period. These games are ideal for primary, early secondary and ESL students.

"Grammar and Vocab Games for Children" I'm an ESL teacher and the vocab and grammar games in this book are a real hit with my pupils. The games are great at reinforcing the lessons just taught, and help children to practise and revise their work while enjoying some fun games. The games need plenty of space, so I take my class outside, which the children love. It's so good to see the students learn while they play, and these games really help me to do my job better and more easily. If you believe in practical, active learning, then get this book.
