Just got my copy in the mail! The shipping was cheap to non-existent(in Canada) and now I get to enjoy To The Barrier Du Maine. I first heard about Katrina Kwan through the seasonal competitions hosted by Creative Communications. She was published five seasons in a row (if I recall correctly), so when I discovered she had recently published her own anthology, I was more than pleased to buy a copy! I highly recommend it. She can be quite insightful about certain subjects. I find that her poems about heartbreak are the most moving!

I would highly recommend purchasing a copy of this anthology! This is a wonderful anthology to pick up if you want to cry about love or fight for freedom or even start a revolution. Kwan's words are very vivid and full of emotion. I will definitely buy a copy (maybe two!) to support this independent young writer. She most certainly has potential to climb her writing career. My only wish was that it was longer! I look forward to see what she publishes next. I'm hoping she'll be able to be published with one of the major publishing companies. She most certainly has potential to do it.

I personally thought that this was great for a first-time anthology! Katrina Kwan writes with a great deal of raw passion. Sometimes I could almost hear a young woman's voice screaming the words at me. I could feel anger and frustration, but at the same time there was a great deal of reflective matter that added to a more spiritualistic and even awe-inspiring level to her words. I especially liked her poem "English is Hard." It was a very humorous poem amongst the rest of the more serious, darker subjects that she write's about in 'To The Barrier Du Maine.' That one particular poem reminded me immediately that Kwan is not only writing for a young adult audience, but is a young adult herself. For that reason, I find it absolutely stunning how well she manages to capture experiences that many would have to live through at such a young age! I would very much like to read her other works. Kwan has a way with words that tells me she will go very far in her writing career. I would... More > recommend this anthology to anybody looking for a quiet, cosy read! Her modern style of writing mixed with the time-old struggles of love and liberty are combined in such a refreshing way that I couldn't put the anthology down!< Less
