Divine Dames is magical! Let me explain by responding to funky_guru85's comment: "contains material most parents would turn their noses up at exposing young children to". Funky Guru - you're so right.....unfortunately! Delightfully, I found Divine Dames to be THE PERFECT book for today's young girls. My 6 yr. old granddaughter loved the powerful, brave, beautiful, exotic goddesses of 'Divine Dames'. It's the ideal way to introduce young girls to new cultures and broaden their considerations about what is truly valuable in life. It's a modern classic - instantly appealing and engaging. There are so many lessons to be learned from mythology - thank you Divine Dames for providing such an entertaining way to do it! My grand daughter loved it so much she even made me read the entire bibliography!
A decidedly unconventional spin on a classic concept delivers a surprisingly resonating result. While containing material most parents would turn their noses up at exposing young children to, 'Divine Dames' makes for a surprisingly enjoyable diversion for the more mature crowd. Lovingly detailed and imbued with a textural substantiality that makes each of the twenty six subjects stand out with their own vivid presence. Along with accompanying detail of each of the globe-spanning list of constituents (feverishly researched if the bibliography is anything to go by,) 'Divine Dames' makes for a reasonably-priced and thoughtful gift for any lover of mythology, theology, world history or mature, intelligently-composed pinup art.
