I have attended the seminar about eight years ago. I was not able to fully use it in our own farm but God has prepared me a bigger plan. I can use the learnings now as I volunteered to train the farmers in Uganda for my employer's orphanage.

The pioneers Dan McKee and Eric Hanquinet of Destiny Wellness Centre and SABGI respectively, (SIIT Arboretum and Botanic Garden Inc.), put me onto the work of environmentalist and farmer, Keith Mikkelson, of Palawan Island. His book is truly inspiring and very practical; his dedication to the orphans in his care, to his community, and to the sound husbandry of his land is a blueprint for all to follow. Out camping wild in Europe, I found a wheat-field, so I pulled the stubble to clear a space. I was appalled at the puny root systems; the thin, lifeless, infertile ‘soil’ they were ‘growing’ in. Ever read Masanobu Fukuoka, or the Mark Moodie account called “The Harmonious Wheatsmith”? Grains grown within such systems fulfil their natural, genetic heritage and potential: Growing thick and bushy, with many strong stalks and leaves for photosynthesis; root-systems delving metres deep into soil and subsoil forming multiple symbiotic relationships with the billions of micro-organisms which... More > thrive in true soils; undisturbed by plough, compaction and chemical poisoning. How fundamentally important it is for all of our futures to adopt “natural-farming” strategies, which constantly enhance soil-life and fertility. Such are the proofs of their methods: reliable data calculates that “Fukuoka-bonfils” wheat produces as much as SEVENTEEN times the number of grains on one plant than a wheat plant grown by conventional, tractor-farmed methods. These grains are both fatter and nutritionally far superior. This translates into a far greater yield, both in quality and quantity from the same space of land; from an environmentally benign design, rather than an environmentally destructive one. More and more of us are finally coming around to understanding the lies, propaganda and myth that surrounds conventional machine and chemical farming; long touted as the most “productive” method. Not so. Worldwide we suffer from epidemics of ill-health, in part because we are literally eating the lie. Mikkelson takes orphans into his care, who arrive often malnourished and sickly. He feeds them the nutrient dense foods, grown on the fertile soils of his own land and they thrive and prosper. He himself says; “This is one of the reasons we grow nutritious food... It is always amazing to see the way God has designed the human body to repair itself through proper nutrition.” “This is a time for rational optimism and discerning action.” This book is a source for both. God bless you Keith.< Less
