All the Good Gods Are Dead is beautifully written. Lenhart does a wonderful job of making the reader love and feel for all the characters, villains included. She also does an amazing job for the theologically minded reader (such as myself) in her questioning of the nature of belief. I particularly loved the way that she created the illusion that the reader starts out with- which is to say, black and white. For example, I started out reading the book, thinking one thing and by the time the book ended, I realized that what appeared evil, in the beginning wasn't really evil- just misguided and human. The book makes one question their definition of evil. Personally, I felt that the very focused view of the book's world I started out with set me up to question why I thought one of the main antagonists, Ktaan, was 'evil'. As the book progresses I got to see first hand that all is not as it seems and that's okay. I also loved the questions she posed about the nature of belief and what makes... More > a god, a god? Because, when reading the book from a literary analysis point of view, it has the potential to start a deep conversation about who made who- the man or the god? If you are looking for a good, well written story with loveable and deep characters; read this book. If you are looking for a well thought out piece of literature that gives you something for your mind to chew on; read this book. If you want a simple, monotone story with predictable characters, then don't read this book. Go read Twilight. I think everyone should read this book because it's so well written that it can be just a darn good story or so much more.< Less
