Thai food is a celebration of flavor, color, and community! This collection of 30 recipes comes from Elephant Nature Park in Thailand. Renowned for the food they serve each day, the author collected these recipes from the Park's founder and her staff as they created their daily feast for park visitors and volunteers. The easy-to-follow authentic recipes are combined with color photos and stories of the elephants at the Park. Net proceeds go directly to the Elephant Nature Park to support their ongoing efforts to protect and care for their elephants, educate the public, and advocate for better elephant treatment. Enjoy these great Thai-Indian dishes and know you are supporting a good cause! Learn more at: www.elephantnaturefoundation.org. Feb 7, 2010This is an excellent initiative to raise money for the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand (where the recipes are from). The food is delicious and the cookbook is well laid-out and beautifully presented with photos and stories about the elephants. Even I (not much of a cook) can follow the recipes easily & successfully! My only recommendation would be to also make this cookbook available in downloadable e-book format.
Dec 30, 2008"A taste of Heaven!!!!! " For lovers of Thai food and elephants! This cookbook is an incredible collection of classic and easy to make authentic thai receipes from the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand. In addition, it's filled with beautiful photographs of elephants at the Nature park. Not only do you get to enjoy the wonderful food, the proceeds from the cookbook go directly to support the elephants and is matched by the Serengeti Foundation. I visited the Elephant Nature Park in 2006 and was inspired by the people, culture, food, and Lek's devotion to conservation of the Asian elephants. This cookbook helps to support the Nature park so that many others will have the opportunity to experience the inspiration. This makes for a wonderful gift for the lover of Thai food, elephants, cooking, or conservation. Rebecca Klobuchar Denver, CO
Sep 27, 2008"I LOVE this book!!!" The recipes in this book are simple to make and delicious, I have made these dishes many times now and have found them to be foolproof! Scattered throughout are lovely pictures of the eles- my favourite is the chubby baby Aura sleeping peacefully, and also beautiful little stories by Kelli about the eles. I have been using this book as a fundraising tool for the park as Kelli suggests (she gives ideas in the back of the book on how to run a fundraising dinner- which dishes to make etc) and it has been so much fun and rewarding, not to mention that I get to talk about eles to all my friends and raise much needed money for the park! It is also a great gift idea- I have already had requests for this book as a xmas/bday gift. Cat Delahunty Australia
Jul 25, 2008"A treasure" Great if you love elephants; wonderful if you enjoy Thai food; fantastic if you like to cook authentic native cuisine. Written by a seasoned, adventurous traveler, these recipes are pure Thai—- flavorful, relaxed, never fussy, and perfect for the amateur or any creative cook who likes to approximately measure and substitute ingredients. The prose is informative and never overdone; the occasional journal entries show the rhythm and heart of the place; the photographs are brimming with color and flavor—- and the actual elephants at the preserve, who will benefit from all royalties. A treasure.
Jan 21, 2008"Re: A treasure" I spent two weeks at the park last year; I've been craving Pam's cooking ever since, I just ordered two books, one for me and one for my girlfriend; if she can master these recipies I'll marry her!!!
Sep 12, 2007"A Taste of Heaven It Is!" I spent two weeks at the Elephant Nature Park as a volunteer and got to enjoy the delicious food at the park. I purchased the book and tried out the recipes for my family and they were duly impressed. I love the Massaman curry recipe especially. I think it will become a regular for us. The book is easy to use and clearly written. A real treat for anyone who loves cooking or elephants.
