This book showcases the original still-life watercolor artistry of Tacoma, Washington based artist Ken Powers. It is a compilation of his best works from when he began painting with watercolor in 2004 to 2009. Enjoy an eclectic journey through his watercolor artistry as he accentuates the beauty of the mundane objects around us. His signature usage of dark shadows and bright highlights add to the three-dimensionality of his paintings and help to add a slightly surrealistic feel to his work. Mr. Powers' fluid brush strokes and usage of unique textures and paints succeeds in bringing new life into the subjects we overlook on a daily basis. After viewing this book you may never look at your surroundings in the same way again.

After reading the biography and artist's statement in the front sections of this book, I am amazed at how quickly this artist's watercolor technique has progressed. I am perplexed by the artist's selection of subject matter but am very impressed by his rendering of the pieces. These truly are "mundane" subjects but this artist's rendering of them gives an almost surrealistic view of our world. The pieces are a mix of impressionism and realism and have a unique vibrance I haven't seen anywhere before. I highly recommend investigating this artist's work as I feel he will take us on an unique artistic journey as he investigates more of the world around us. This is a must read book!
