"Complete Guide to COLLECTING the Playstation" When I purchased this book, I was really hoping for a coffee table type reference book with rare pictures of key events in the development of the Playstation and never before told tales from the people behind the machine. What I got was a softcover game checklist with a few articles to fill the remaining pages. And the photos, well let's just say that the quality is not what you would expect from a $30 book, not by a long shot. Now, it's not that the book isn't helpful to more casual players but it is clearly aimed at the guys looking to complete their collections rather than guys looking for cool games that they missed the first time around. Only recently have I discovered the fanatical world of people that mod and customize the PS but obviously they have been around since the very beginning of the console and they don't even get a mention in this book. How about games that were cancelled and then released on the black market?... More > Or looks at how the censors effected game development? Or cool games and peripherals that didn't make it past the drawing board? Well, the list just goes on, but you get the idea. This guide is far from complete and really only skims the surface of the US Playstation phenomenon. Good for guys with hundreds of games that they don't actually play but not very useful for those of us that want to revisit and feel some nostalgia for the early days of the PS.< Less
