There is something to be said about originality. So many books these days are written in stale format, with an overused autobiographical explanation (ala; child to teen to adult to success), and they all seem to be about people who, over the span of time depicted in the autobiography, have acquired some kind of fame; whether it be for creating a machine that converts hydroelectricty into a usable source for the world or if they are just blessed with atheletic ability. Memiors of a Generic Joe: Observations from the Lower Class however, does not follow in the dry footsteps of the aforementioned. Kevin Michael Cochran, who is not famous, an ingenius creator, or a Nobel Prize Winner, but instead a normal 'joe' like you and I, weaves a book that shows actual observations and happenings, unlike the better part of autobiographical liteature released in the last 50 years. You open this book, and you find no sob story; no heartwrenching tale of redemption, but an ACTUAL collection of an... More > ACTUAL persons thoughts, emotions, and ideas. Can any one of us really relate to living in the streets, playing basketball, and becoming a multi-billion dollar athelete? Hardly. BUT, we can all relate to being stuck in traffic behind a less-than-competent driver and getting angry. The entire book is filled with amazingly relatable material that will undeniably make you say "Yeah, me too!" or "I know how THAT goes!". So, set down your coffeetable-friendly books and pick up a REAL book by a REAL person, and prepare to be immersed in REAL life. 5/5< Less
