As civilians it's always interesting to get direct insight from those serving around the world in direct conflict. This is a fast paced read that really get's you enthralled into the mind of the author and his experiences. An Arab American with Brooklyn roots, fighting in an Arab war struggling with his family values, beliefs and social upbringing. Every Marine has his story, and it's wonderful to experience Mr Hafid's unique perspective about what happened to him, his family, his Marines and ultimately how these experiences shape his character. Absolutely recommend this book and I have a feeling we will hear much more from this author in the future. Riveting, funny and heartbreaking. Pick this up.
