Great Book to read, and great style of writing and developping the story! Easy to follow and realistic when it comes to describing the facts and different environments (NYC, Iraq...) This is a book that's worth reading and that's surprisingly fun to read for a war book :) I congratulate the author for his amazing honesty!
As civilians it's always interesting to get direct insight from those serving around the world in direct conflict. This is a fast paced read that really get's you enthralled into the mind of the author and his experiences. An Arab American with Brooklyn roots, fighting in an Arab war struggling with his family values, beliefs and social upbringing. Every Marine has his story, and it's wonderful to experience Mr Hafid's unique perspective about what happened to him, his family, his Marines and ultimately how these experiences shape his character. Absolutely recommend this book and I have a feeling we will hear much more from this author in the future. Riveting, funny and heartbreaking. Pick this up.
