Crosscurrents

ByKwame Okoampa-Ahoofe

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Crosscurrents is primarily an esthetic and intellectual conversation across the sea, from the American northeast to the proverbial Land Down-Under. And while in of itself such conversation may aptly be deemed rather pedestrian, for it is, on the face of it, a mere heart-to-heart causerie between a man and a woman, what makes it quite unique is its boldly adulterous undertones. Nonetheless, the interlocutors are able to almost comfortably assume such bold, albeit adulterous, tenor largely because such conversation as transpires between them promptly foregrounds, above all else, the esthetic power of words which, ineluctably, may be seen to subliminally redeem whatever may be deemed to be downright unsavory and even immitigably objectionable. The objective here, though, regards the morally transcendent power of love and friendship over and above all else, particularly the parochial dictates of culture and creed.
