5 OUT OF 5 WANDS- Excellent book! The Holy Grail for New Pagans with everything you need to know in this one reference book! "Everything you want to know about paganism/wicca in the one place at last!", I read on another review of this book and that is exactly what you get when you buy this book. I have to say it was the picture on the cover that drew me in first so i downloaded it to my kindle and enjoyed it so much I ordered the large print book and it is a beautiful book with places to add notes and looks great on my bookstand. I have to agree that "Guidebook for the New Witch" is one of the most concise books and all i can say is "Folks. Prepare yourself for some serious training as this is written by an author who certainly knows her Craft and mentorship. Finally a book with everything in the one place; paganism, witchcraft, wicca, druidism, occult, history, spells, rituals, sabbats, dedication, about covens, variety of different traditions and brilliant... More > links, recommended known witches/wicca both past and present, recommended books and literally an journey through the quagmire of paganism and all in the one book. Guidebook for the new Witch brings you on a personal journey where you can research every aspect of paganism with a mentor who has vast experience and stresses the seriousnessof comitting oneself to the craft path; a way of life. There is no fluffy bunny Wicca here, folks. for newbies fluffy bunnies are "fluffy bunny is a fake wiccan, usully in their teens, with little or no information about the religion. Tend to make noise about their path. It is used as a derogatory term for someone who is ignorant, wilfully ignorant and/or disrespectful towards Wicca yet claims to be Wicca. [...] This is no "fluffy Bunny' book and the authors approach to Witchcraft does not take the reader long to realize that she is a Craft practitioner of the highest calibre. She approaches the material in her book in such a way as to teach the reader her material from the heart. This book will provoke thoughts from both those new, and old to this way of life. This book goes into depth about living the craft, and how to know yourself or meet your new self in the craft. This book is one to return to over and over again, as each reading yields more meaning not previously gleaned the first time around. Topics covered: pagan history, a substantial glossary explaining pagan words and their meanings, what a new witch will need (inexpensive), how to make your own wands, Sabbat rituals are includedand she includes a list of non-ritual activities to celebrate the sabbats. instructions for rituals, herbs, color/tree/candle associations, tarot, runes... Everything a new witch could ever need is in this personal journey for each individual pagan/wiccan and it is probably the most valuable book a beginning practitioner of Witchcraft could have. When you are ready to open yourself to the divine powers, when you are ready to understand and learn about the practice and theory, when you are ready to experience the happiness this way of life has to bring to you, then buy this book. It is a very practical, responsible book and commend you haul booty to the store and spend your hard-earned cash on this book. I loved this book as it is probably one of the BEST if not THE best books I've found regarding the Pagan path.< Less
