This partially autobiographical play about Larry Blamire's job as a wallpaper puller in a South Boston warehouse is an example of how an unpromising subject can be turned into a compelling play. It's not the job that matters; it's the characters who undertake it and the way it shapes their lives, their views, and the actions they take in dealing with it. The language is very raw, but I remember having spent one day working on a construction site, and from that experience, I know it's quite authentic. It's alternately comic and sad, and it has a very interesting set of characters whose hidden sides reveal themselves as the play progresses. For those only familiar with Mr. Blamire's work in the movies, this play will be an eye-opening example of the range of his work, and is highly recommended.
