Teacher Quality and Effectiveness: An Indictment of the Educational Literature and a Call for a New Paradigm
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
In this little book Mr. Pahl, a lifelong educator, looks at what the educational literature says about quality teaching. Pahl says, "One thing I definitely learned while reviewing the literature about the craft of teaching was that if I was advising a teacher who wanted to improve her craft, I would not send her to this literature. It is pedantic, stilted, parsed, and qualified... But since I spent so much time in the literature trying to find articles that would be helpful to me as a practicing high school teacher, I thought I should at least say a few things about this literature for others who might be in a similar situation. That is why I wrote this book. I would probably not have written it if I felt that there was something out there saying substantially the same thing. My sense is that there are some teachers out there that will benefit from this work and its perspective. If there are, this work is dedicated to them."
