This book is based on the life of Israel Glickman. It is comprised from the memories and dreams of two sisters, Pauline Glickman Goberman and Leah Glickman Solomon. Although their story has more fiction than fact, it was written with love and devotion to a man who began his life as Vasily Gubin and evolved into Israel Glickman. It is a fascinating story of his conversion to Judaism during the pogroms in Russia during the reign of the last Czar, Nicholas II. Leah gave a copy of her manuscript to her nephew, Seymour Shaye to put into book form. From Aunt Leah and Aunt Pauline’s love a family, came Seymour’s desire to discover more about this amazing story. After many years of research, time, patience and a DNA test, he found descendents of Israel’s Glickman’s brother in Izhevsk, Udmertia Russia. Aunt Leah and Aunt Pauline were correct; Israel’s Russian name was Vasily Gubin. From finding Vasily Gubin, he found connections to Israel Glickman’s grandfather, Savva Gubin who lived in the town of Lipova.
