The God Children

Price: $4.25
This is a novel about the re-emergence of the Goddess, and the exquisite holiness of empathy. Deftly balancing a taut and tenuous line between fiction and nonfiction, literary fantasy and theology, The God Children explores previously uncharted interconnections within American society. One quickly bonds with the protagonist as she tries to raise her daughters according to contemporary American social customs, but these children have other ideas. This story is about hope, about imagining the possible, and about the personal consciousness of spirit and soul that ultimately awaits us all. The God Children was originally published in Apsaras Review, Kremena Publishing, Reykjavik, Iceland, 2003-2004.

"a wonderful page turner with beautiful and hopeful ideas" This beautiful book has the most ambitious goal - it is an novel, an art form, that aims to change the world. The God Children asks us to look at our place in the world as deeply connected to everyone - no matter how far away - and a history of beauty, art, courage, and love. We have the creativity and passion to make our world better - and Leda Joandaughter shows that women will be the leaders in creating a better world.

"amazing..." This novel, if we are going to be literal, is just words on paper. And after reading some or all of these words, you wonder, how can these words on paper affect me so much? More than anything else, the style this novel takes on isn't about description, it isn't in-depth, but it is direct, and you don't realize its effect until you're curled up sobbing into a pillow. These words on paper seem infused with so much emotion, you cannot read this novel without some sort of reaction. So if you read this novel, proceed at your own risk. But it's worth it.

"Wonderful" This book is funny, sad, and magical. Yet it remains hopeful. I recommend it for all.

"“As Cubism jolted the visual arts," “As Cubism jolted the visual arts, inviting viewers to ‘look at things’ through ‘different eyes’, so the execution of Leda Joandaughter’s “The God Children” does for unveiling ‘cloaked’ societal issues through literary art.”
