Leila M. Wells began writing her reminiscences of the Adirondacks late in life. At the age of 90, she published her first book describing her life as a child and young woman living in the Adirondacks. Two additional books soon followed. Her writing is filled with imagery from her childhood: a visit to her Grandfather's homestead; shopping at the local country store; childhood games; attending school and later as a teacher. She was active through her long life, enjoying quilting, writing and cooking. She died at the age of 104.
