'The Impudent Child's Picture Book of Poetry' is an illustrated book of humorous verse and quotes. Parents be warned-- although this book is ostensibly a children's book, it is not what you'd call politically correct,(Which means baby-sitters and relatives roped into reading a bedtime story to the kids will find it far more bearable than the usual fare!) All in color, the style is very similar to artist Wallace Tripp's wonderfully illustrated little books, 'A Great Big Ugly Man Came Up and Tied His Horse to Me' or 'Marguerite, Go Wash Your Feet'. About the artist/writer -- Lela Dowling has been involved in the field of fantasy, science fiction, cartooning and comic book art since 1976. Her pen and ink style, embellished with watercolor, is primarily influenced by the English Illustrator Arthur Rackham and 'Pogo' cartoonist Walt Kelly. When she's too lazy to write her own stuff, she relies on dead writers and poets to provide the vehicle for her humorous scribblings.
