This is a true story of life in Iowa in the thirties. The story starts at the beginning of the Great Depression and tells of our joys and struggles. My Dad was a mechanic. In the beginning we were better off than most, as many did not have jobs. We owned a one-bedroom home with the luxury of electricity. It was located on the east side of Des Moines,Iowa near the fair grounds. My Father eventually lost his job and died when I was seven. I loved my Father very much and he taught me many things. His death still is the worst day of my life. I tell of how we children entertained ourselves and how snow can be fun. You will go with me on my first day of school and read how cruel some children can be. Things changed dramatically after my Father's death. Mom remarried and instead of our life improving, it worsened. I tell of what's going on in our country and else ware during the thirties. The story tells of small town living and touches on the life of the Iowa Farmer.
