Listening as the Holy Spirit Speaks

The dove is revealed to us in scripture as a Divine Person of the godhead that we like to see expressed as a dove in love and compassion, Matt 3:16, but the Holy Spirit, also is mentioned as symbolic of water in Jn. 7:38, oil Jn. 3:34, wind Jn. 3:8, and fire Acts 2:3. Never does He promote himself but always pointing us to Jesus Christ, the Lord. He gives us gifts both personal and gifts to the true church, as our comforter since Jesus left the earth. His person can be grieved and quenched by our sin allowing evil into our heart. Eph. 4:30. We are warned against blaspheme against the Holy Spirit which is the unpardonable sin. Matt. 12:31. We can see how important the Spirit is to us when we believe He shares in being the One, true, Creator God that formed the heavens and our universe and all that’s in it.
