A biography of Taffy Davies, the son of Stella Davies who wrote North Country Bred. Adventures for Taffy started when he was very young. His younger brother tells of the time he heard about when their parents pushed Taffy, aged one, in a pram 160 miles to Wales and back from Manchester. Taffy’s adventures continued and some are recounted by members of the Rucksack Club. There are stories of Taffy causing an Italian Fire Brigade to be called out and of his sleeping in the spare water pipes in Cwm Glas.
Included are three articles Taffy wrote for the Journal, “First Time in Skye” (1947), “No Picnic on Mount Teide” (1969) and Cockle Shell Heroes” (1973), each full and interesting accounts. The book finishes with the last days of Taffy.
Whether you knew Taffy or not this is a most admirable book which does full justice to our very memorable and much loved member.
