Locked Universe County Jail, the book seems like it's written like a diary. The characters are easy to understand and follow. The plot is solid and keeps the reader engaged. It needs a good soundtrack and is a little like "Orange is the New Black" Netflix Jenji Kohan type of stuff, but 15 years before that. It gives the reader a little peek into a forbidden relationship, a casual but explosive affair that the main character has with a doctor's son who really done or did examine women's pap smears in a lab, photograph them, pretend to be look when he was sleeping type of lab rat job... This guy is totally pathetic how he cries and writes the most girly letters, yet the character of Blondie eats up all the email like candy. And even when she was only in the county jail for 3 weeks, Christmas Eve until 1 week after New Years, she was a comfort to the other inmates and read palms and did future readings of the other woman. By the time she gets out she like a queen in there, but... More > it was time. She races back to her supposed lover but he ignores her like the blowing wind, and she runs to his best friend's house down the street and gets nothing there but a ride to the police station to pick up her belongings. And if it were me, I'd never forget the look of the officers thinking she needed to still be in the jail, they lightly mocked Blondie. She ends up bumping into an old friend, Connie, who leads her to make more calls then back to the scene of the crime, to her ten year boyfriend live in, the house down the hill from her lover's house where he lived with his retired doctor parents. She went back to TJ the one she ran away to cheat on with the Doctor's son. It's tragic but the story does a total turnaround and she lands on her feet thanks to her doctor/teacher cousin at UCLA who helps her and propels her forward and literally saves Blondie. This would have made a great movie but unfortunately the author did it with wild abandonment and later on I'm sure producers like Jenji Kohan took it as research public domain after 15 years selling on the net. All and all a great read and I wish tell that one culprit who ran scared, Albert! He never cared to come back into Blondie's life. To this day I'll bet the author thinks of what could of been. She ended up meeting a director and marrying Lew Hauser and they live happily in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Go girl, great read. You made the best choice, and I know you loved Art Ziel, but he didn't really love you.< Less
