"Lillian's Diary" tells of a young girl that was raised by strangers in foster homes even though both her parents were alive and living nearby. Then when she became old enough to strike out on her own in the mid 1940's, she met a sweet-talking handsome sailor, fell in love, and then endured many years in an abusive marriage with him. Often finding herself struggling to raise their three small children alone in crummy rooming houses or staying with in-laws that rarely had her or the children's best interest in mind. To survive those years she often needed to rely on government assistance programs to supplement low-paying jobs she took to feed, clothe, and house her and the children. But after years of constant infidelity of her husband, his troubles with the law, and the many physical and mental abuses he and others inflicted on her, she eventually found her way out of what can only be described as a life of Hell when she met and eventually married the man she called the best man on earth!
