Marj sent this review to me. I post it on her behalf: I have finished it, enjoyed every sentence.  Thanks for writing such an open truthful story. Inspire is the key word here. I loved the stories of love.  Yes, I wanted one of them to turn into the fluff stuff dreams are made out of.  But what  stays in my heart is your courage and strengths.  Your openness, how well you know yourself, your self assurance regarding who you are, how you perceive others.  Interesting how you rode your bike 20 years ago with your teddy bear--and you still do--on the beach with your dog.  Marj

I think what this world needs is a book about someone such as Pelegrine that is universal in its themes. I found it funny that when I encountered my landlord/roommate's volatile nature, that night I went back to your book and there was Pelegrine as you described her:  tempestuous, ignited by injustice, wearing others to a frazzle. Your honesty about your nature (I mean Pelegrine's) drew me in, made me respect her. My own journeys seem endless, too. I see the struggle Pelegrine has with her emotions and that is precisely the battle I have waged throughout my life. That frequent falling in love, that being in a relationship I thought was "it" only to realize that it was draining the life from me and, at the same time, wanting to hold it even more tightly. Never doubt that Pelegrine is worth knowing. I can give you specific instances of where I felt connected to her, where I wanted to be her mother, where I wanted to be her friend, where I wanted to be her lover. If you... More > can do that to a reader, make her care, you should give her more. I was thinking about your next book. Could these not be a series of books about these very discrete and important times in Pelegrine's life? Show us how Pelegrine experiences her various metamorphoses? It is compelling to me, the reader, to think I may continue to accompany her on her journey.< Less
