This was an amazing book! I started reading it on a Thursday evening at around 7:00 p.m. and on Friday I had only 12 pages to read. I just could not put it down. The book should be read by ALL Women Young and Old. For two reasons, so if they are in a situation like in the book that they realize that they are not alone; and secondly so that they are aware of how to get out of a situation that is like this. Amazing!

This is an incredible story and should be read by every woman--- young & old. No one deserves to be in an abusive relationship and this story tells the incredible journey of one woman's fight for her own freedom. This story is inspiration for woman around the world to know that they are not alone, and that there is hope to be had. The story is remarkable, and exposes societal ills that are still being rectified today. The reader will feel as if they are right there in the book with Susan as she hides under the table away from the horrors of a earthquake, and the reader will cheer Susan on as she crosses the finish line of a 26.2 mile marathon. This story will come alive as it is read, and many lessons can be learned from the courageous Susan. The author's heart shines throughout the pages of this book, and any person who ever reads this book will find themselves cheering for the heroine. The book is an easy read, and once you pick it up, you won't be able to stop reading until you... More > are finish! Thank you, Linda for opening your heart and sharing with the world.< Less

I started reading the book on a Friday evening around 9:00 and finished it the next morning. I couldn't put it down. I really liked the honestly and the added references defining what was happening in medical terms. To me that gave the book accountability. As I was reading it, I thought that it would be a good book for churches and other help agencies to use to help other women dealing with verbal abuse. (I know I have been there also.) I would recommend the book as a must read. Thanks alot Linda for sharing your story.

This is a very powerful story of a woman's fight for independence and gaining back her self confidence and her well being. Susan Chandler went through a verbally abusive relationship not only from her husband, but from her mother-in-law, for 25 years. So many woman do this and not so many survive. Susan survived and was able to go on with her life. She proved that women can do it and show these abusive spouses that they can't hurt anymore.
