This is part of a review sent in to Children In Time, and you can see the full review at http://www.childrenintime.co.uk/ ... The author of this review is John E. Franklin ... You may, at first glance, be forgiven for assuming this tale is yet another take on Lewis' "The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe" or a pastiche of the Dr. Who pseudo sci fi genre. Indeed, Lizzy freely admits to inspiration from both of these influential phenomena which have been ingrained in the minds of most of us from our formative years. Upon closer examination, however, the reader is drawn into the world of Victoriana through the eyes of these children which, it has to be said, becomes increasingly compelling. Furthermore, the only similarity to the former publication mentioned above is the fact that it all begins in a large Victorian house ... What brings a depth of insight into the equation and what makes this story so original and compelling is Lizzy's very real conviction drawn from her own... More > wide experience of real life. It is a lovely story to read with all the right elements and a delight for children young and old.< Less
