Receiving charity is often difficult for the active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This book steps through progressive concepts in assisting all who must receive, be it the short or long term invalid, young mother, maturing grandparent, or those overwhelmed by tragic events-all of us at some point or another-to do so gracefully. In the process, it is hoped that the reader will also be filled with the pure love of Christ. For that is the only way to gain charity-to receive it.

A deeply personal study on an honest, thoughtful individual's life struggles. Throughout the book I found the author's discoveries caused me to analyze my own experiences and helped me measure them against the words of scripture and of the prophets. An organized discussion on charity.
Before reading this book I'd never given it much thought, but there is more, much more, to receiving gracefully than just a sincere, "Thank-you." I learned that a person who can truly receive graciously exhibits some of the most fundamental and deep spiritual characteristics, personality traits that Christ himself exhibited and expected us to develop. I learned that life really doesn't have to be as hard as we self-sufficient types make it, that it really is O.K. (no not just O.K. but actually a commandment) for us to ask for help, from other people, and from God. I especially enjoyed the author's discussion on pain and why it is actually a blessing, or can be. It is the author's sharing of her own pain (it's hard to believe how much pain she has already suffered in her young life) that makes this book a page turner, and her scriptural references that make her views believable. I would recommend this book to anyone--both for enjoyment and for answers.
