ByLorraine Covington

The Little Old Woman with the Great Big Toe and the Crow is a lesson on pride. Pride distances friends and famiy and hardens the heart of the prideful. Often it takes one who sees beyond the prideful attitude into the hurting heart to break down the barriers that pride erects. The old Woman in this story has been abandoned by her family and friends who chose to escape destruction and leave them behind. When she too determines it is time to start a new life, she meets up with a crow who has returned to his home to spend his last lonely winter on earth. As the crow chooses to ignore her spiteful outbursts, her heart softens. She recognizes the destrucive nature of pride, begins to see the beauty of the forgiving crow, and learns to love.
