This book is not only cherished by the family and friends of the autobiographer, but is of huge interest to all those who grew up during the Great Depression and lived through the Second World War and beyond. The book is especially informative for Australian readers and particularly for those who live in Sydney, but is also a great primary source of history for students wishing to know more about the life and times of those who lived during the first half of the last century. The author's father held a high position in Australian society and as a result, he and his family mixed with important people around the world. Chapters include childhood during the Depression, pre-war England, America and Germany, training for a career, war service in the RAAF, return to civilian life, work and family.
