    I first started reading Lotus' work through her blog in the beginning of February or March. I cannot recall and it doesn't really matter, the underlying point is that for someone so young, she is beyond talented. Not talented in the way the word or concept is often used, but honestly and full-heartedly. A rare sort of writing that cuts and bleeds, vividly. These are things that are going to sting and these are things that are going to catch you off guard - concepts of time and love and uncertainty and saying goodbye. Something that is universal. Just because she is young doesn't mean that she doesn't know. No, no, in fact, she knows very well. After swallowing this all down in a matter of days, I now know that for sure. Perhaps the best way to explain reading this is to use an excerpt from Embryo --- "i have begun to view life as one lone scene filmed in one take (or not. hello, i think i love you rewinds hello, i love you rewinds hello, i, i, hello) these things take time, i... More > mean breathing is not the first thing we learn but it's close" Breathing is not the first thing we learn. Maybe it's blinking, maybe it is existing, maybe it is loving. All I know is that whatever you find here, it will touch you, which is the very element of literature, the very purpose and goal. These poems will touch you and feel so familiar, as if you wrote them yourself.< Less
