Each book presents the image of an artwork in its complete digital manifestation through hexadecimal code – every pair of alphanumeric characters constitutes a byte of information. The series as a whole aims for the preservation and dissemination of human culture in binary form, while acknowledging the futility of the enterprise. The series intends to resonate with several pressing questions after the rise of the digital age, such as the accessibility of information, processes of archiving, disseminating, coding and decoding images, and changing notions of the art canon. The selection of works follows a meandering editorial plan, and the series is inaugurated with a collection of titles on key monochrome artists, rendering the purity of monochrome painting through the sheer poetical beauty of hexadecimal code.
