This little book offers a new interpretation of the myth of the Garden of Eden. It reinstates Lilith in her true power as a woman who is brave enough to go against the words of God and eat an apple from the tree of knowledge. The wisdom she discovers is all encompassing, light-filled and reminds her of the truth that people have hidden from themselves through fear and self-denial. In this story Lilith is power, but she is no demon. Then comes another true story, telling of the secrets, the manipulation and the control by monotheistic religion/governments. This book is a magical tool offering the reader an apple from the Sacred Tree which brings release from limitation and a step towards enlightenment.

This book made me feel so many emotions: joy for the beautiful story that celebrates woman, and sad for the world and myself that we are brought up learning a different story. The language is evocative and the images created through it have stayed with me. This story healed a part of myself that I didn't even realise was grieving.
This is an enchanting alternative fable that is true in that it works as a parable to reflect modern attitudes to the role of women in society today. No longer denigrated by superstition, both men and women are empowered by recognition of Lillith as the avatar of wisdom and self-knowledge to be embraced rather than shunned. Highly recommended.
