Athelstan, a 4th century BC Barbarian General, makes an innocent albeit, unfortunate decision. He turns aside from the appointed quest given him by his King, to save a grubby young sneak thief from brutal Spartan justice. By doing so he sets in motion a series of events that rock the very fabric of the civilized world. He stumbles into a game he does not understand. A game that has no rules. A game, quite impossible for him to win.
His naive meddling upsets the status quo and captures the attention of a powerful and ruthless tyrant. This shadow organisation turns its full attention towards the destruction of Athelstan and his strange female companion. This girl holds the key to an incredible mystery, which stretches the length and breadth of the Classical world, and throughout what remains of Alexander the Great’s Empire.
Can he stay alive long enough to discover her true identity as well as the tyrant’s true desires? That may prove difficult since she might be…
…the enemy.
