Lee in the Confederacy's Army of Northern Virginia in the Civil War. Includes a narrative by M. A. Hancock and transcriptions of over a hundred letters sent home to the Proffit family during the war.
With contemporary maps and photographs from the Library of Congress, the National Archives, Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War and many other primary sources and a foreword by great-grandson, John Miller.
Transcriptions are of the Proffit Family letters in the Southern Historical Collection, the Wilson Library at UNC, Chapel Hill.
